about

I live in the town of Courtenay nestled in the Beaufort Range on Vancouver Island. It has many of the requisite amenities for me to stay reasonably balanced; mountain bike trails, a ski hill, good music events, worldly people, some history, active arts, and a rough edge with a frontier feel.

A true child of the north west, outdoor activities are vital to my being. I’ve developed my own practice blending wilderness experiences, adventure and deep thinking. My art and writing reflect this path and have culminated in PoetSkis custom limited edition skis and snowboards with poems printed on them. I have long been more interested poetry than power and prestige.

Much of my time is spent operating a think-tank called ChinookX driving clean energy transition and sovereign data development. Since living and working in post-Apartheid South Africa, I have been an advocate for reconciliation and decolonization with Indigenous peoples in Canada. I heartily believe that Indigenous worldviews are what will save us all from climate change.
